SmarterX has three primary public-facing business units and brands:
- Marketing AI Institute: Media, event and education business founded in 2016 that is designed to make AI approachable and actionable for marketers. The Institute has more than 90,000 contacts, and its flagship in-person conference, MAICON, draws 1,000+ marketers to Cleveland each year.
- AI Academy by SmarterX: Originally launched in 2020 under the Marketing AI Institute brand, AI Academy is being spun off as a dedicated site and brand. AI Academy is a high-growth business unit designed to prepare individuals and organizations for the future of work by making AI education accessible and personalized.
- The Artificial Intelligence Show: The podcast is SmarterX’s fastest growing media channel with 65,000+ downloads per month. The podcast serves as a promotional tool and lead generator for SmarterX and its business units.
SmarterX also has an internal AI Content Studio that supports audience growth, demand generation, and customer success across all brands / business units. The AI Content Studio produces blog posts, books, blueprints, courses, newsletters, podcasts, presentations, research, videos and webinars.
Role Overview
The Social Media & Community Manager will be responsible for managing and scaling SmarterX’s social media presence across all brands, including Marketing AI Institute and SmarterX, as well as supporting the AI Academy and Artificial Intelligence Show teams.
This role will oversee social media strategy, content development, community engagement, and AI-driven automation while supporting podcast promotions and broader audience interactions. The director will ensure that all platforms foster meaningful engagement, drive brand growth, and support key business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Execution
- Support the development, implement and / or support social media strategies for:
- Marketing AI Institute Social
- SmarterX Social
- AI Academy Social
- Podcast Social
- Marketing AI Slack Community
- Create, schedule, and optimize content across platforms to maximize reach and engagement.
- Monitor trends and leverage real-time opportunities to position SmarterX as an industry leader.
- Own social media and community performance tracking and reporting.
Community Engagement & Growth
- Develop and execute community engagement initiatives to strengthen relationships with audiences.
- Foster discussions, respond to comments, and manage user interactions across social and community platforms.
- Identify and activate brand advocates, influencers, and industry leaders to expand SmarterX’s reach.
Content & Collaboration
- Work closely with the content, events, and marketing teams to ensure social efforts align with key initiatives.
- Support the promotion of SmarterX events, AI courses, and media properties through engaging social campaigns.
- Collaborate with podcast teams to develop and amplify podcast-related social content.
AI Agent Management
- Support AI agent planning, development, management and integration.
- Oversee and optimize the use of AI-powered social media agents to automate engagement and enhance interactions.
- Ensure AI agents are trained with up-to-date content and provide accurate, brand-aligned responses.
- Continuously evaluate and refine AI-driven community engagement strategies for effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in social media strategy, community management, and digital marketing.
- Expertise in growing brand engagement across LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Strong understanding of content marketing, audience engagement, and AI-driven social automation.
- Experience working with social listening, analytics, and automation tools.
- Exceptional communication, writing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience in AI, technology, education, or media industries is a plus.
- Deep experience with HubSpot is preferred.
- Advanced prompting abilities with standard LLMs and reasoning models.
- Extensive experience with OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini and / or Microsoft Copilot.
