When organizations struggle to implement AI, the assumption is often that they can't afford it. Tools are expensive. The right talent is scarce. The budget isn't there.
In the 2026 State of AI for Business report, we asked more than 2,100 professionals to identify the biggest barriers to AI adoption in their organizations. Respondents could choose up to three.
Here are he barriers respondents identified most often:
The tools exist. The money, for most organizations, is not the issue. What's missing is the knowledge and confidence to actually use them.
Look at those top four barriers together and a clear picture emerges. These aren't four separate problems. They're four symptoms of the same one: People are wiling but overwhelmed.
Employees want to engage with AI. Leader sare already sold on it. What's missing is the sturctured support to bridge the gap between curiosity and capability.
The good news? That gap is closable. Unlike budget constraints or talent shortages that take years to solve, the knowledge problems can be addressed directly, deliberately, and at scale.
So if AI initiatives are stalling in your organization, the solution is likely more learning.
This is just one data point from a report full of them. You can read and download the complete 2026 State of AI for Business Report for more insights on organizational readiness, training gaps, governance, and more.
